General Pricing Information

Sequencher prices are per licence. Sorry, discounts are not available for multiple licences.

Stand-Alone and Networked programs include free technical support and upgrades to any new versions for a full year after purchase. See below for the Upgrade Policy after the first year. Programs come with a 60-day money-back guarantee.

Network Versions

The Network versions of Sequencher use a single dongle on one machine on the network. Anyone on the network can then use the full-featured program at various times, but at any one time, only as many people as you have licences for can use it full-featured. Other users can still use it in "demo mode" (i.e., saving and printing disabled).

Increasing the Number of Network Users

The cost for upgrading from an n-user network licence to an m-user licence is simply (m-n) times the list price per network licence. We will then send you a new dongle programmed for m users, and when you receive it you must return the existing dongle to Gene Codes.

For example, if the price of a single-user network licence was $5,000 (not the actual price) and you wanted to increase your network licence from 3 to 4 users, then the cost would be $5,000 and we would replace your existing 3-user dongle with a new 4-user dongle.

Upgrading from Stand-Alone to Network

Similarly, to upgrade from a stand-alone to a network version costs the price of the network licence, minus the current price of a stand-alone licence, with exchange of the dongles.

Additional Network Licences of a Newer Version

If you increase the number of network licences you will receive the latest version of Sequencher. If your existing licences are covered by the Support Program (see below), you can of course upgrade them to the new version. However if you are not on the Support Program, you will need to re-join it in order to legally upgrade your existing licences to the new version (technically, you don't have to upgrade your existing licences if you continue to use only the old version, but upgrading them without being on the maintenance program is against the licence agreement).

If you upgrade from a stand-alone to a network version, you will receive the most recent version you are registered for, which may not be the most recent version if you are not on the Support Program.

Mixed Networks

You can run Sequencher for both Macs and Windows PCs on your network from the one dongle, served from either type of machine (if a Mac, USB dongle only). Note that if you have 3 Mac licences and 2 Windows licences, the dongle will only allow 3 Mac and 2 Windows simultaneous users - the licences are not interchangable. Also note that there is a US$100 additional fee to program for a different platform per licence.

Upgrade Policy

All purchasers of Sequencher receive one year free technical support and upgrades. After that, to receive version upgrades you must be on the Sequencher Maintenance and Support Program, which costs US$325* p.a. You do not have to be on this program, but to acquire later upgrades you would have to join it at the normal rate plus US$500* rejoining fee.

* These prices are set by Gene Codes and may not be current. Contact Gene Codes directly for current prices.

Note that the Sequencher Maintenance and Support Program is administered directly by Gene Codes Corporation. All queries, orders and payments should be made directly to them and not to Genesearch Pty Ltd.

Also note that you cannot "upgrade" from the Mac to the PC version or vice versa: they are separate products that have to be purchased separately.

This information is a summary only - for full current details you should see the Gene Codes website.

Dongle (Hardware Key) Exchange

If your Sequencher dongle becomes faulty or you want to change its type, e.g. to go from Mac ADB to Mac USB, you can exchange for free if you are in Gene Codes' Sequencher Maintenance and Support Program. If you are not in the Maintenance and Support Program, you will need to contact Gene Codes directly for information and pricing.

Note that you cannot exchange Mac for PC or PC for Mac dongles as they are separate products. Nor can you exchange Stand-Alone for Network dongles (other than by purchasing the upgrade as per the information above).
