Finnzymes™ — for PCR
Finnzymes works intensively at the leading edge of modern molecular biology, especially in PCR, quantitative real-time PCR and transposon technologies. Production of high quality enzymes is the backbone of Finnzymes' activities with all PCR products from Finnzymes are licensed for PCR.
Ultra Fast PCR — complete PCR in under 10 minutes!
| Genesearch and Finnzymes are happy to offer Australian customers the total ultra fast PCR solution — total PCR in under 10 minutes! The speed of a standard PCR reaction can be increased through strategic selection of the thermal cycler, DNA polymerase and plastic ware. Ultra fast PCR can be achieved by choosing the Piko thermal cycler, Phusion high-fidelity DNA polymerase and Slidetiter plasticware. This unique combination takes advantage of the Piko’s 8-10° C per second temperature change (ramp rate), Phusion’s 15 second per kilobase extension time and Slidetiter’s ultra thin wall plastic ware for increased heat transfer. Using these three technologies, a PCR program can be optimised and primers designed to complete your PCR in ultra fast time — even in under 10 minutes! Phusion Flash PCR mix makes bench setup even faster, all you add is your DNA and primers, mix and run! |

Piko™: 24-well and 96-well Thermal Cyclers
Piko™, inspired by the Italian word “piccolo,” meaning tiny, aptly describes our new PCR system. At less than half the size of the smallest thermal cyclers on the market, this instrument relies upon our Slidetiter™ vessels to achieve such compactness. The Piko thermal cycler can complete a PCR protocol in less than 10 minutes. And with an automatic motorized lid, the CD drive-like loading of vessels, and multiple block formats, it is a natural fit for any lab.
- Half the size of the smallest thermal cyclers
- Licensed for PCR
- Automatic pressure setting motorized heated lid
- CD drive-like loading of plates and tubes
- Easy to use interface
- Half the price of high performance thermal cyclers
- 4x lower power consumption than conventional thermal cyclers
- Can complete PCR protocols in under 10 minutes

Phusion™ High-Fidelity DNA Polymerase
 |
The unique Phusion™ DNA Polymerase offers performance that no other enzyme can match. The Phusion DNA Polymerase generates templates with an accuracy and speed previously unattainable with a single enzyme, even on your most difficult templates. The unique structure and characteristics of this polymerase make Phusion DNA Polymerase a superior choice for cloning, and sets a new standard for PCR performance: its error rate is 50-fold lower than that of Thermus aquaticus, and 6-fold lower than that of Pyrococcus furiosus - thus being the most accurate of available thermostable polymerases. The Phusion DNA Polymerase possesses processivity 10-fold greater than Pyrococcus furiosus and twice that of Thermus aquaticus. Incorporating a new fusion protein technology, Phusion DNA Polymerase brings together a novel Pyrococcus-like enzyme with a processivity-enhancing domain. By fusing a double-strand DNA-binding domain to the polymerase, its processivity can easily be increased 10-fold. Phusion DNA Polymerase exploits this dramatic increase in processivity, resulting in shorter extension times, more robust and high yield amplification, and the ability to do long templates in a fraction of time. |

Phusion™ Hot Start DNA Polymerase
The unique Phusion™ High-Fidelity DNA Polymerase with a dsDNA-binding domain is now available with a hot start modification. The new Affibody®-based inactivation method of Phusion DNA Polymerase increases the specificity of PCR amplification by preventing non-specific extension of DNA substrate at ambient temperatures prior to the first cycle of PCR. In addition to the extreme fidelity, speed and robustness, Phusion Hot Start DNA Polymerase now also delivers extreme specificity to PCR experiments. Thus, protocols optimized for Phusion Hot Start DNA Polymerase can be directly applied to Phusion Hot Start DNA Polymerase reactions.

Phusion™ Flash High-Fidelity PCR Master Mix
Phusion™ Flash High-Fidelity PCR Master Mix is a 2x master mix enabling the use of extremely short PCR protocols without compromising the fidelity or the yield of the reaction. The master mix utilizes Phusion Flash DNA Polymerase, a proofreading DNA polymerase modified from Phusion Hot Start High-Fidelity DNA Polymerase. The error rate when using Phusion Flash PCR Master Mix is 9.5 x 10-7, i.e. the fidelity of the Phusion Flash DNA Polymerase is 25 x Taq.
Phusion Flash PCR Master Mix was developed to save valuable laboratory time. Ready-to-use master mix minimizes required pipetting steps: Only template and primers need to be added by the user. In addition, the unique composition of the master mix enables the use of extremely short cycling protocols with both low and high complexity DNA templates — 15 seconds per kilobase or less.

Slidetiter PCR Plates
Slidetiter™ describes a family of PCR plates that have the footprint of a microscope slide. We have not only shrunk the size of the plate, but dramatically reduced the thickness of the well walls. Four plates can be snapped into a single frame producing the equivalent of a standard microplate. This advance allows the use of the same equipment to prepare and analyze your PCR samples. Slidetiter plates are offered in 24-well and 96-well capacities, but at a quarter the size and half the price of conventional microplates.

DyNAzyme™ II DNA Polymerase
Thermostable DyNAzyme™ II DNA Polymerase is isolated and purified from an E. coli strain carrying a plasmid with the cloned DyNAzyme DNA Polymerase gene from Thermus brockianus, which is a Finnzymes proprietary strain. DyNAzyme II DNA Polymerase has a half life of 2.5 hours at 96°C. It lacks 3'→5' proofreading activity but does contain 5'→3' exonuclease activity. DyNAzyme II DNA Polymerase is purified free of contaminating endo- and exonucleases.

DyNAzyme II Hot Start DNA Polymerase
DyNAzyme II Hot Start DNA Polymerase is a modified form of the DyNAzyme™ II DNA Polymerase originating from Thermus brockianus. DyNAzyme II Hot Start DNA Polymerase is inactive at room temperature, and the activity is recovered by a 10-minute incubation step at 94 °C. The enzyme improves the specificity of PCR by preventing the extension of non-specifically bound primers during reaction setup and the first heating cycle. The use of DyNAzyme II Hot Start DNA Polymerase is also beneficial when using primers that are prone to primer-dimer formation or when using robotic PCR systems that include incubations at room temperature prior to temperature cycling. DyNAzyme II Hot Start DNA Polymerase possesses both 5'→3' DNA polymerase and 5'→3' exonuclease activities. The polymerase amplifies DNA targets up to 3 kb, but optimal results are obtained with amplicons up to 1 kb.

DyNAmo™ cDNA Synthesis Kit
The DyNAmo™ cDNA Synthesis Kit is intended for cDNA synthesis for two-step quantitative reverse transcription-PCR (qRT-PCR) applications, where amplicons are usually around 100 bp in length. This kit is a part of Finnzymes' DyNAmo 2-step qRT-PCR Kits and it can be used in conjunction with DyNAmo qPCR Kits or with any other qPCR kit suitable for the application. The DyNAmo cDNA Synthesis Kit includes all necessary reagents for cDNA synthesis to be used in qPCR. Either total RNA, messenger RNA, viral RNA or in vitro transcribed RNA can be used as a template for reverse transcription. The kit includes both random primers and oligo(dT) primers. The user can choose either of these or alternatively use gene-specific primers. The reverse transcriptase in the kit is M-MuLV RNase H+, which provides higher sensitivity to qPCR than RNase H- reverse transcriptases.
